Your memory of a high back rocking chair will most probably be associated with an elderly person who was leisurely enjoying his evenings on the portico. Size always matters and you need to see that the chair’s dimensions are ideal for the size of your body. You should be able to comfortable reach the floor with your feet. If the rocking chair is too high your feet will dangle and you won’t be able to comfortably rock the chair.
The width of the seat of the high back rocking chair also should be considered. If it is too wide your arms will be at an angle while resting on the armrests and that will be quite uncomfortable. The seat should fit you comfortably and not be too narrow as that would be quite constricting and uncomfortable as well.
The best way to select a high back rocking chair is by actually sitting on it and rocking. This will tell you if the curves of the rockers are pitched properly and there is no danger of tipping over.
