Dining Room Chair Covers
Dining room chairs, in most cases, have some sort of covering to protect them from the daily abuses of sitting and eating. It doesn’t really matter how careful you are spills happen and they happen often, especially if you have kids or pets in the house. Dining room furniture is usually pretty expensive and you want to protect your investment as much as possible.
Chairs will also wear out from just wear and tear over a period of time just from daily use. Having dining room chair covers slows this process down considerably. You protect not only the fabric of the chair but even some of the wood areas too from accidental cuts and scrapes. Putting a few dollars into chair covers can stretch the fabric life quite a bit and make your dining room set look new again.
There are numerous types of dining room cover available that range from the expensive custom made covers to cheap stretch covers that can be picked up anywhere and installed in seconds. Custom Chair covers are designed to replace the entire fabric on the chair. This option is used when you are interested in changing or upgrading your design. It is expensive but it will give you the chance to get brand new covers and at the same time change patterns to maybe match a new dining room theme. The less expensive covers are essentially slip covers used to protect the existing fabric during meals or other activities. If you use these covers you will need to make sure to get the correct size. Check the measurements of each part of the chair, seat, and backrest and, if the chair has them, arm rests. Badly fitting covers are more trouble than they are worth, stretching, creasing and even ripping.
Many of the newest covers have a layer of waterproofing which can stop liquids from damaging the under fabric. These will cost a bit more but if you have a lot of spills at the table the expense saved in having your chairs redone is immense.
The good thing about many of these covers is that, since a set can be picked up really cheap, it’s easy to use them for many different occasions, changing the theme of your dining room daily if you like.
